Hi All:
The last open mic at Da Kine Island Grill will be May 11, 2016.
We will have to look for a new venue for future open mics.
Thanks
Les

OH NO! I keep hoping I can go there, but have a meeting tomorrow night: www.redwoodmountainfaire.com. One of these days I will make it! I went to High School across the street (Fremont High) and it would be a trip back into time.

Aloha All:
Thanks to Lawrence and Cynthia for going up on stage and
performing for us. Paul was his witty self as always.
We had an intimate and appreciative crowd.

Shoots!

I was required to attend a Steering Committee meeting tonight, but thought of all that lovely Hawaiian music instead. Grrrr.

Mahalo Les for organizing and facilitating the open mic. The restaurant was filled up, and it was a lot of fun with a nice variety of music, including sing-alongs, and with different configurations of talented folks. There was even an impromptu kani at the end for another hour or so.

As you saw, many of us weren't shy in getting up to perform, it's just that our priority was food first, then music! (Isn't that the right priority?) It was really great to see you play solo slack key--keep it up. Ditto to Mike, who did two songs this time. Also a nice surprise to see Lawrence and Cynthia. Finally, mahalo to Da Kine Cafe for letting us "occupy" the place and fill it up with live Hawaiian music.

Aloha,
Doug

Aloha Doug:
Big mahalo to Doug, Art. Sil, Genaro, Kellen, and Kalina for coming down to
Da Kine Cafe for the open mic. I know you guys had a long drive.
"Da Kanikapila Gang" sounded great.
Thanks to Lawrence and Cynthia for coming out to support the performers.
Next time you guys will be up there right ? Kinda role reversal from the Mission Coffee days.
Lawrence, feel free to come up and help me with the sound system, you know I don't know what I am doing.
Also, Mike, thanks for making the drive down from SF and playing a couple of songs.
Maybe you can get together with Genaro and carpool next time.
I guess I need to enforce the signup sheet so there won't be so much down time,
that I have to fill by myself. I tried to get Aunty Jane up to sing, next time.
Hope to see you all again 1/11/12.
Mahalo,
Les
