Aloha Taropatchers,

I will be hosting a kanikapila/potluck this coming Saturday May 27th next to the Kauluwela Rec. Center in downtown Honolulu behind the Liliha Times Supermarket. It will begin at 12 noon and run until at least 6pm. I will secure parking with Kauluwela Elementary School so there will be ample parking at the lot on Aala St. I'm issuing an open invitation to any Taropatch.net members who reside on Oahu or will be visiting from the mainland or outer islands that day.

There will be a number of TP members in attendance at this kanikapila which will include:

Fran Guidry
Derek Ho'okani Higa-Hookani
Samson Ah Mook Sang-olu143
Shawn Machida-s.m.80808

Also sending out invites to:

Ozzie Kotani
Peter Medeiros
Young Peter Moon
David Kaio
Andy Llanes
Zach Onaga-slackkey808
Abrigo Ohana
Terry Brown
Ivan Ho'opi'i
Stephen Akana

And I expect a bunch of these invitees to attend because our guest of honor will be Led Ka'apana & sister Lei Aken. Hoping to get Rhoda Kekona to come too.

So if you want to come & play or just come to listen & talk story, email me at "dukedomingo58 @ yahoo.com" for more details. Hope to see you there.

Big Mahalo to Duke for pushing these gatherings.
Too bad I had to go work, but I grabbed some granule rice and popeyes and a little video before digging out. Will try to get time off for the next one...

Mahalo nui loa for getting my back with the photos, Fran. BTW I'm thinking about doing another kanikapila around the middle of June. Got some cousins from Moku Keawe visiting & they always drool over the kanikapila photos. So I definitely have to organize one for them. So keep your ears to the wind.

I made & contributed...........
Hawaiian Style Beef Stew (Probably 5 gallons worth)
Gandule Rice (2 large pans)
Steamed Rice (large pan)
4 cases of soft drinks

Other food I saw on the buffet line:
Popeye's Fried Chicken
Foodland's Korean Fried Chicken
Chinese Fried Rice
Roast Duck
Crispy Gau Gee
Macaroni Salad
Spicy Ahi Poke
Shoyu Onion Poke
Tako Poke
Ted's Haupia Chocolate Pie
Napolean Bakery Malasadas

That's all I remember but I know there were a few more. BTW this is mild compared to other kanikapilas I've hosted

Plenty of grins and the grinds, a tent and chairs, one class kani. And plenty of fine musicians to keep it going. Big mahalo for bringing us together.

Fran

Lol! Where on Facebook, Duke?

Sorry, I'm so computer illiterate. I have no idea how to post photos to Taropatch. I tried to follow the instructions but it seemed all Greek to me. As you can see by the above comment, my attempt was a major fail. Pictures & short videos are only available on Facebook

Eh Tom,

Make sure you contact me when you get back home in November. I know you're usually tied up with family obligations when you visit. Maybe the stars will align & you have a small window of time for a kanikapila. Give me a heads up when you have an idea on your agenda. I'm always looking for excuses to round up the gang for a kanikapila.

Aloha
Duke

This thing called work keeps getting in the way. I will be doing the annual family visit in NOV so hopefully I get to see you then.

Wow! This sounds fun enough to almost justify a trip to Oahu. Wish I could be there.....
