Were you looking to jam on guitar (slack key) or with ukulele.
[Chunky Monkey] already mentioned the SCSKS slack key Open Mike on Tuesdays.
I am the current President and [ricdoug] is the Vice President of the Ukulele Society of America (USA). http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/Ukulele_Society_of_America/ We meet to kanikapila every Thursday evening (1800-2100) that the Ocean House Restaurant in Carlsbad (we have a schedule conflict next week - so 9 December is canx).
The USA has several affiliate ukulele groups in San Diego. The Merry Ukes meet in Chula Vista http://launch.groups.yahoo.com/group/MerryUkes/ every Tuesday 1000-1100 at the Norman Park Center.
The San Diego Ukulele Group (led by Ronnie Seno) meets every Monday evening (1830-2100) at OldTime Music on University Avenue in North Park San Diego. http://www.sdoldtimemusic.com/Pages/calendar.html
The StoneAge Strummers meets every Tuesday 0900-1100 in San Marcos.

Mahalo nui for your response! Will try see if I can make it up North County area.
My 'ohana live down south, so was wondering if there were any groups a little closer to the East Bay or South Bay area.

There is a small group of Slack Key guys - Southern California Slack Key Society (TP names Chunky Monkey, Mika Ele, Wdf, BBenzel) who play at Kaisen's in Oceanside (Open Mic) every Tuesday night. We regularly get together otherwise. Mika Ele does a large Uke group on Wednesday or Thursday night in Carlsbad. I don't play Uke so I don't know the details. I live in Tierrasanta (San Diego).
