So many things of quality strike me: the mix of traditional, original, paniolo-grooves, traditional tunes, Plus a great collection of photos of Norton, George and friends--many taken at George's camp...Plus a beautiful cover and layout with great photos and story. The way Norton intertwines his support and solo work makes a unique full sound.... there is no bass, but it feels full. Norton shines yet never does "over-the-top" showboating. He just magically bubbles up from support to solos, and back down to somewhere in the lava tubes below. Other friends who play: Norton's wife Lisa Flores-Buffalo, Keoki Kahumoku, Rev. Dennis, Herb Ohta Jr., Jeff Peterson, Brett Allen, and Rohit Gupta, With engineering by Norton, PLUS Lawrence Bryant (who's getting some pretty impressive Hawaiian recording credentials, and Brett Allen. Then there's the photos, story, and a tremendous cover, liner notes and layout work by Cynthia Bryant, Lawrence, and Nancy Kahumoku, and shots from camp by other places by Scott Hillman, Cynthia, Bruce Forrester, Lisa Flores-Buffalo, Doug Wong, and Julie Hendricks. It's a great musical treat, and a gift from Paradise-- a way for those of us who missed meeting and playing with Norton at George's camps to know and keep Norton's gifts singing.
