Aloha. "Under Hanalei Moon" was the first set of song lyrics I ever wrote. Huapala.org thought it contained a lot of "kaona" and included it in their website as an example of preserving Hawaiian culture in song.

Kahealani Naeole-Wong, at the University of Hawaii, translated it into Hawaiian but said it is a word-for-word translation and would have to be refined to make it a truly Hawaiian mele.

My collection of 4,000 Hapa Haole song lyrics is the largest assemblage of that genre anywhere.

I have two PRX.org [Public Radio Exchange] one-hour radio programs of country music and am working on the third in that series.

I would like to do the same with Hapa Haole meles created from my Island Song Lyrics collection.
So, if you find time to record the mele, market it any way you wish. I will add you as co-writer through my BMI account. If you cannot fit this into your understandably busy schedule, maybe you will pass it on to another island artist who could do a fine recording of it.

regards and Mahalo nui loa..........Larry
