I was born and raised in the Pelican State of Louisiana, in fact anyone with the name "Guidry" almost certainly traces their origins to Cajun country. And there are plenty of us, I once counted three pages of Guidrys in the New Orleans phone directory.

This is all by way of saying that I've recently learned of an `ukulele and string operation located in my home state, South Coast Ukulele http://www.southcoastukes.com/

I haven't had any business dealings with these folks, but I've been communicating on the subject of slack key `ukulele, and they recently published a lovely piece looking at that subject http://www.southcoastukes.com/011.htm

The chord shapes would be the same as the top four strings of the guitar, yes. But they would be creating chords as if the guitar were capoed at the 5th fret.

Bradda Fran,
Excellent, I'll give it a go. So If I tuned to open C on my uke, it would play exactly the same on my guitar correct?
