Posted - 08/21/2014 : 06:49:24 AM From our Dec. 2012 walk down Kona storefronts... a letter in a music shop window (Flea Market Music Inc., or similar name) It was after dark, so store was closed... But took a picture, allowing for glare off window, George's hand-writting--and my eyesight, here's what I see... ---------------------------------------------------------------------- dated 2/2/99 it states: "Everybody should have and play a 'uke' it's so simple to carry with you and it is one instrument you can't play and not laugh! {glare here}...so sweet and also very old-- some are made of wood--some are made of armadillos. I love them--the more the merrier. Everyone I know who is into the uke is 'crackers'. so get yourself a few and enjoy yourselves-- Love from George (Keoki) Harrison" ---------------------------------------------------------------------- Andy will try to transfer the photo I just sent to him, so maybe when he gets a break from the New York Stock Exchange and picking guitar, it'll show up here...
But what a cool hand-written note... of course, this explains why I'm "crackers"!

Posted - 08/22/2014 : 12:00:54 PM Thanks Andy. Your post is much clearer than my camera shot... While mine had a cute character, with flash reflection, and also the frame (Koa?), and some Hawaiian plant drooping over the shot... your's works better than my street shot. and so it originated in a note to Flea Market Music in California, somehow adopted by the little store in Kona. Wished it'd been open, but Karen is glad it wasn't! I do need an armadillo ukulele! A substance harder than Maple, Oak or Koa...so a great back, if you don't mind the texture. "I want to go home with the Armadillo"-- ukes that is! Make that Koa. |
