'Buke = book', surely?

Oddly enough where I grew up, 'Buke' (or bewk) was a perfectly normal way of pronouncing book. Similarly, 'cookery book' was 'cewkery bewk'. Doesn't that happen anywhere in America? I have to confess I haven't heard it.

Great book! Question: Why "Uke Buke?" Lol, I don't understand the title!
