1. I notice that under the names of the people who post on the forum there's a Hawaiian word. Under mine and some of the folks with few posts the word is aloha. What do the words mean?

2. In general, is there a good Hawaiian - English dictionary available? I can't find much on the web.

As always, if this has been covered in the forum before, I'll go to prior posts!

Unfortunately not; we had family in town from Hawai`i and took them away for that weekend.

Gregg: Were you at Cyril's recent concert at Jean's? That's the only thing I've attended so far.

Regards.

No problem, Terry. If we haven't already (without knowing it), I hope I'll cross paths with you someday soon at a Hawaiian event in the area.

Retro: Thanks for the reference to the FAQ. I didn't look thoroughly enough. I've now read it in its entirety.

Peter: Thanks for the link to Wehewehe.

Regards.

Terry,
this url http://www.wehwehe.org/ will take you to the Hawaiian dictionaries that are used here in Hawaii. Wehewehe is one of the best online resources for things Hawaiian. One caveat that you have to be aware of is that there are several dictionaries here and that they were compiled at different periods of time by different authors. In some cases word usage and definitions may have changed substantially.
