Posted - 02/10/2012 : 10:58:10 AM Those of you who know Hawaiian music will understand this. I won't go into the describing the characters involved. If you don't know, look'em up. Anyway:
I was running early this morning (just after dawn) with my Ipod. My ipod has more than 5000 songs covering many genre, including urban blues, R&R oldies, doowap, contemporary blues, lots of "roots" music, singer/songwriter, country and of course, Hawaiian. I always listen on shuffle (random selection).
Up came Dennis Pavao singing "Hawaiian Soul", one of my favorites from him. Of course, the next song was, Yep, you guessed it, "Haole Hula" by George Helm. Stopped me in my tracks. I knew it was gonna be a good day. |

Posted - 02/12/2012 : 12:07:17 PM Buddy Fo told me some things about the demise of George Helm. He was deep in the heart of the Waikiki music scene. Very sad, very spooky. But he left us with some wonderful songs. A friend gave me the "Gold Coin" collection. Awesome! |
