Greetings all, I am a longtime lurker and slack key enthusiast who may be visiting Hawaii with my wife for the first time during the second two weeks in June. Does anyone have any recommendations as to where we can see some music, workshops, go to a festival or even just visit a great music shop? We are also looking for the best snorkeling if anyone has any recommendations

Thanks and mahalo,
Stinkfoot

Konabob,

It was a pleasure to meet you last Sunday at Daylight Mind. My wife and I really enjoyed your set with Eke. Mahalo, again, for your hospitiality and for the good tunes. We're back in Cleveland now, but already looking forward to our next visit to Big Island.

Aloha!

Aloha, all.

I'm planning on being on the Big Island later in June too. Anything happening there?

Mahalo,

Well Then...

May you Freak Out in 200 Motels eating Lumpy Gravy while screaming "Hot Rats and Weasels Ripped My Flesh".

(As Frank might say)

I appreciate all the responses, lots of good information here. Lawrence, Stinkfoot is just a nickname from my Frank Zappa days. Now I listen to a lot more Led Kaapana but the username sticks. Fran, by the way I really enjoy all your videos and your website. Great stuff, thank you for putting it out there.

Unfortunately it turns out we aren't going to make it in June so will have to wait for another holiday opportunity. Keep up the great music everybody.

Thumbs is right! Duke is sirduke58 on TP. Because of Waikiki, there is more entertainment on Oahu, though not necessarily in Waikiki. Many artists from other islands live on Oahu because the gigs are there.

Get plenny music on Oahu. Can see Cyril Pahinui, Led Kaapana, the Abrigo Ohana, etc. Get in touch with Duke Domingo for Oahu kanikapila.

Aloha Stinkfoot (somehow those words do not seem to go together)

So is that like Stinkeye, only lower?? (Just Kidding)

If you are going to Maui the last two weeks of June then you will be there during the annual George Kahumoku Workshop at Napili. If you act real fast you may be able to register now. If not there are also several public concerts involving the students and/or instructors of the workshop. On Wednesday June 18th there is an ALL STAR concert at the weekly Slack Key Show performed by some of the workshop instructors.

On Sunday June 22, there is the all afternoon long, FREE, Slack Key Festival at the MACC (Maui Arts and Culture Center). Well worth taking an afternoon off to go and picnic!

If you are not on Maui at those times... TOO BAD FO U!

(Just Kidding again... something must be happening on "da odda Moku" as well)

Have fun...

Which island will you visit?

Fran
