Hash is a great idea, Thumbs! I have some friends who make "leftover sandwiches" with all the ingredients, complete with cranberry dressing as a layer inside. That just seems wrong somehow.... I love cranberry dressing, just not as part of a savory sandwich. To each their own.  |

Earl! The reason for cooking a turkey is: mix the leftover mashed potatoes, gravy, dressing, chopped turkey, and a big onion (chopped, fried in butter) and make HASH! All the joy in one dish! |

I've mostly been playing "tight key" of late too, in that "weirdest of all tunings (standard)". It has been a regular bluegrass jam plus a few tunes that are new to me for a ukulele and a guitar student. My approach is to let them choose the tunes that they want to work on, as motivation. I get exposure to songs that I might not otherwise ever hear, especially from the younger folks. My radio stations are set to the old familiar 70's and 80's rock of my youth.
I really should carve out some time during this coming long weekend and work on slack key too. There will be a Sunday afternoon classic rock & roll jam at a friend's house, well after the turkey hangovers. We're all in the 60-70 age range. They were reluctant to host a big Thanksgiving get together, but will have a limited (6 or less) jam at home on Sunday. |

12toneman, any playing in any tuning on any instrument is "money in the bank" - building the connections an expanding the ear!

I've been learning tight key for the last couple of years. Currently getting comfortable with drop 2 voicings. |

Working through Jeff Peterson's "Paniolo Soul". A great G minor tune. As usual with JP's arrangements, I have to modify some chords because I can't physically play what he recommends (read: old, small fingers). Also, as always, a humbling experience for someone considered to be somewhat accomplished. When I finish this I'm going to flog myself and try to get through "Maui on MY Mind" again. |
