I'm working on Ray Kane's Punahele right now as transcribed by Jeff Peterson. I'm finding it a lot of fun to play with all the hammer ons and pull offs.

just thought I would post to stay active. Just finished playing He Aloha No O Honolulu in my Guitar League meeting. It takes me about a month to really get a song down and play it from memory. Im now working on Punahele and hope to perform it on July 14th

Eventually I plan to exit FB - not as cool a thing as projected, it's just a place for advertisements.
Keep playing music with real instruments, we can't let AI have an edge.......

Got it. I still browse almost every day. It became a game to see how long we would go without ANY posts.

I still try to check in. The 'patch was and is a valuable resource, despite FB getting in the way.

No time of death needed Earl. We are all alive and kicking, albeit not as high as we once did. Hey Fran, I was messing around yesterday with Manini also as I remembered all of the hammer ons and pulls offs. Both are great songs to have in the quiver.

I've been fooling with "Manini" from Leonard Kwan, there are a lot of the same moves in "Punahele." Harry Koizumi does a very generous job of breaking down "Manini" - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qwbf1eULbjY

Also on YouTube you can find the complete "Ray Kane - Slack Key Guitar Lessons" DVD. There's no tab but there are lots of great songs and excellent hand shots: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=YL2ywJa270g

I learned that one from Mark Nelson at a guitar camp several years ago - still very fun to play.

We got to mid-March without a single post since New Year's Eve. I was about to start a "time of death" thread...
