Posted - 06/13/2011 : 12:58:39 AM Oh my oh my, there was so much music to post this week. Sorry for no list last week. We went down home and I didn't get a chance to put a list together. But we make up for it this week. Take your time, relax and listen.
Hui `Ohana singing one of my top favorite mele “Ka Pili Oha”. This mele was written for my kumu hula, Aunty Mapuana de Silva and Uncle Kihei de Silva as a Christmas gift some years ago by Tony Conjugacion. It is most beautiful, especially as Dennis Pavao sings it. This song is very special to Paul and I and maybe to Keonepax, too! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mBYu8wOTzcs
From Living Local TV – a bit about the College of Social Sciences at UH-Manoa as well as some music by John Keawe (last two minutes or so) – John plays “Play with Me Papa” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Z1RwblpD7X4
Kapa Kafe – Raymond Kane’s grandson, Bula Kailiwai – talking about music slowing down because burning CDs and cheating musicians out of their rightful income, about how Hawaiian music industry has changed and what his music is all about and who his influences were. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tV_HnljP0ak
Posted - 06/15/2011 : 7:50:15 PM Yikes, I ended up on youtube?!?! Not youtube worthy! That was an informal jam at the annual Hawaiian Potluck picnic in Central Park on 6/5/11. We were just having fun despite my fatigue, lack of food and drink.
Kāwika, playing ʻukulele, lives in NJ and we met that day at the picnic. Chris Davis is on steel.

Posted - 06/13/2011 : 3:49:55 PM Oops. Here is one more I do not want to save until next week: one of my new discoveries as you probably noticed above, Kawika (Mauimuzik517) singing "Mele a Ka Pu`uwai"...so sweet, so beautiful. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_oS-40RGIHA&feature=feedu
Posted - 06/13/2011 : 3:38:24 PM Here is another: John Keanaaina singing "Mai ka`i ka Makani `O Kohala". It was a favorite of his grandmother. Read the talk story which he posted on You Tube. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=brrezxX51zE
