Just happened to be watching an old 1953 WWII movie called "Beachhead". In color. What counts is that it was filmed in Kauai (The Territory of Hawaii, Garden Island of Kauai as listed in the credits). Imagine Kauai in 1953. Great background shots of Wailua river area and more importantly, a great scene at the end of the movie at Hanalei Bay with almost no homes along the bay. The pier looks the same except it appears that there used to be rail tracks down the middle. That alone is worth watching.
