I'm new to this website. I enjoy playing the guitar and started playing slack key about 15 years ago. I got turned on to slack key from a non-credit class at UH from Ozzie Kotani. He's a great teacher and I fell in love with the sound of Kihoalu. Before that I played standard tuning and I enjoyed playing blues. Still enjoy that too. I'd like to get better at playing slack key and it would be fun playing with others and possibly performing somewhere. We'll see where this goes.

Glad you are contemplating coming to the Bishop Museum Kanikapila. Come early so you can meet & wala'au with the hosts(Abrigos) and regulars. You'll definitely meet some very nice people.

Thanks for the Welcome. I'm thinking of checking out the next Bishop Museum Kanikapila. Sounds like fun. I'll probably get to meet you guys there.

I'd really like to get together with you to either play some ki ho'alu or share some of it. I'm in Honolulu too on N. Vineyard Blvd right next to the Times Supermarket. Ozzie is a good friend & ki ho'alu mentor. I teach slack key too & would be more than happy to share my mana'o. Email me through this website or my YouTube channel (sirduke58) and we can make arrangements to meet up.
I also assist in the hosting of 2 monthly open to the public kanikapila here on Oahu. I aid the Abrigo Ohana in hosting the Waimea Valley Kanikapila on the 3rd Sunday of every month then we have the Bishop Museum Kanikapila on the last Sunday of every month. Both run from 1pm to 4pm with a sound check at 12 noon. We're usually there about 11am. Normally there are about a half dozen slackers in attendance.
