I've been playing guitar for many, many, years, and got turned onto slack key about 3years ago. I play mostly in taro patch tuning, but have experimented with a few others. I attended one of Cyril Pahinui's workshops where he showed us Atta's C tuning, and can't wait to follow up with him for next steps!
Anybody want to get together to play and learn? Anybody already meeting for kanikapilas around here that I could join in?

Posted - 10/17/2014 : 03:51:10 AM Hi everyone! Still no takers on kani ka pila in northern Virginia, but some leads.
I went to the Jake Shimabukuro ukulele concert here this week and met a bunch of ukulele players that get together every now and then, and they said the might know some slack key folks. They invited me to their next meeting.
Wish me luck!

Still looking for folks to play with in the Baltimore/Washington area. Haven't heard from anyone...
I'm going to the Seattle Slack Key Festival this coming weekend. Any one from my neck of the woods going to be there?

Welcome to the Taropatch board. I have a few relatives in Arlington but do not know any Hawaiian music players out there. I am out here on the Left coast.
Maybe, someone will chime in eventually.
