Posted - 01/03/2010 : 10:11:41 AM Hello Everyone, My name is Larry and I'm an . . .Hawaiian music addict. I live in Ardmore, PA and Volcano Village, HI. There's a big place in my heart for The Big Island and Volcano especially. I spend almost half the year there. I've been playing guitar most of my pretty long life. I played Telecast for Opry stars and others in Nashville in the 70s which is when I first came to Hawaii. I owned a pretty well known acoustic guitar store in the Philly area for about ten years and also repair guitars, acoustic and electric. My last regular gig was playing guitar for Robert Hazard (Girls Just Want to Have Fun) which ended when he passed away last year. I still teach and record a bit in PA and have started to play a little on Hawaii. Hope to do more. If anyone needs a guitar worked on in the Volcano area, I'll be there in February and March and most of the summer. Let me know. I'm taking a chance by telling this group, but I just put up a you tube of a Taropatch tuning song called Coqui in the Hole. You can see what I look like by looking for my You Tube name, 60lab. Sorry girls, I'm happily married :). The sound quality is pretty poor. Sorry. So, Nice to meet you all. |

Posted - 01/06/2010 : 04:25:15 AM LOL my friend and thanks for the comments. The song is original. I came up with it after we had a poor little coqui on our property and the coqui hunters came and found him. I understand the problem of many at a time but one didn't seem so bad and they are pretty darn cute little things. Plus, how many nights do we have in Volcano that are warm enough for the coquis to sing. Anyway, at the sunday farmer's market in Volcano (a weekly event I pretty much live for) there is a bread baker who brings along a portable stove and makes eggs in the hole which he calls a Coqui in the hole. I'm still kind of working on the song and will try to You Tube a slower version. Anyway, thanks very much

Posted - 01/04/2010 : 05:26:37 AM Thanks all. I think i will enjoy myself here. Thanks Andy for your nice welcome and for hosting this forum. I would love to get together but I think you are pretty far from me. When I'm on the east coast I'm near Philadelphia. I did listen to some of your music and really liked it. You and Dennis sound great together.Koke'e is one of my favorite songs and places. Do you ever get to The Big Island? You and you family would always be welcome in my house in Volcano Village when I am there. There are some great people to play with there. We could even do a house concert of some kind. I will be there for February and March as well as much of the summer and then part of October and November. So, thanks again. I look forward to getting to know you all. Larry |

Sorry... could not resist!
Welcome to the Patch.
P.S. I once lived in Upstate New York just across the border from PA so I can guess what your east coast situation might be like.
