Alan Akaka will be coming back to AMC again this coming February. I am sure most of us know what a brilliant performer he is. He also runs a music school on Oahu, and is an excellent instructor. He generally teaches in C6th, but also teaches in B11th and a few other tunings.
Geri Valdriz, from Maui was our steel guitar kumu in July, and gifted AMC with three beautiful frying pans. They are available to the first 3 people who ask to use them at Camp in February.
(One less thing to explain to TSA, right?)
I will need to get some fresh strings for the C6th tuning sometime in January, so let me know if you have signed up for AMC and would like to use these guitars.
Aloha,
-Konabob

He may be a really nice guy, but does he have a magic wand that he can wave over me so I'll actually learn to play this instrument?????

If you want to learn Hawaiian steel guitar, by all means go to camp in February. Alan also gives Syype lessons and runs Ke Kula Mele in Kailua, Oahu - http://www.kekulamele.com/. In addition. he is a really nice guy.
