I bought a Yamaha Guitalele a couple of months ago and tuned it to taropatch. I love it. Da only ting I noticed is dat da wound strings all started rusting, starting near da fret markers.

Did anyone else experience dis? Anyone have any ideas how I can stop dis from happening? I changed strings and it's happening again.

Tanks eh!

It is bimetallic corrosion caused when two dissimilar metals are in contact -- accelerated by humidity/water -- a form of rust. Make sure you wipe your strings off with a dry towel when you are done, including underneath -- between the strings and the fretboard.
