A friend let me use his new Apogee MiC and I am really impressed with the sound for a $200 mic. Here is a test I made in my hotel room with a Martin LXM (Little Martin) guitar. This test was made with 2 MiC into a Macbook, but you can record in mono on an iPAD with GarageBand.

Did Mark make such "hi-res" observations? I don't remember him doing such. I do remember him doing great reviews of the Zoom H2 and H4 recorders and other such field recorders. I did disagree with him on the sound and engineering quality of Bose products.

As far as the 96 vs 44 debate, I usually try not to get involved in religious discussions. My ears can no longer (even theoretically) tell the difference, and having been a member of the Boston Audio Society, I am quite aware of what happens even to "golden ears" when subjected to TRUE double-blind testing.

Keep up the good work Fran...

You are no slouch in this area Fran, your various Mic comparison recordings and other experiments have been fun and informative.

Of course, I really miss Mark and his great equipment reviews of things like the Zoom recorders. He and I may have disagreed on the product quality of one or two specific manufacturers but he was usually spot-on and created very well written reviews.

Willie K and the MiC. Check this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=player_embedded&v=vdLakjyyZEU

Not to be contrary, but if the goal is capturing a recording one might consider the Zoom H2n ($179), Tascam DR07mkII ($125), or Zoom H1 ($99) before declaring the Apogee Mic unbelievable. Audio technology has really ridden the price/performance curve downward.

Of course, if one is interested primarily in connecting to iWorld, the price goes up.

Darn, am I doing Lawrence's job here?

I have heard really good things about the Apogee MiC. The MiC seems really handy to connect to an iPad.

Thanks for sharing your recording. It sounds great.
