Posted - 06/13/2009 : 07:40:03 AM I understand that my Flip video recorder uses no SD card and has internal storage capacity of about one hour's worth of videos. What do I do when I go Hawai`i and have plenty kanikapila for record? I figure we get one kanikapila with Duke & Jay and all them other swell guys, and probably one with Lanet and the Abrigo `Ohana and whoever would come out for that. And of course, I would have to post them on You Tube. And then what if I wanted to video Martin, George, Aaron or Bobby Ingano? Or Led? Or Uncle Eddie Kamae or Mike Ka`awa or Paul Kim or Analu Aina or even that CUTE Ocean Kaowili or Uncle Jerry Santos or Hoku Zuttermeister or stuff at the Slack Key Festival, etc., etc., etc.
If I took the Flip to a camera store, could they download off the Flip and put it on a DVD? |

Posted - 08/13/2012 : 10:53:32 PM I have the Flip Ultra HD 8gig - I have taken some great shots with this camera and love it but I had my suspicions that this was in fact the problem and it was as I have done several test regarding batteries and their use once connected to the USB port on my laptop - One thing for sure and some people may forget, all USB ports operate a dual capacity where not only can you transfer data but power/charge thus the result of killing batteries almost instantly when plugged in. Posted - 08/12/2012 : 9:52:52 PM So that's what's been killing my NiMH batteries on my FLIP. Good thing I recharge several sets before I take my FLIP and camera out. Thanks BODA. Ric |

Posted - 08/12/2012 : 12:04:13 PM Auntie this is BODA - I have a flip too - what I do is take my laptop and just transfer each time its full. A wise tip - remove your batteries each time when you transfer or it will kill them right away. Aloha!

I mean, the flip camera has a usb thingie and if I want to save it to the thumb drive, then that is a usb thingie, too. So how could I have two thingies plugged in at the same time? I know I sound dense about this, but that is only because I am.
======== FLIP is not going to go straight into a thumbdrive. I have a laptop y'all can use when you get here. |

Posted - 06/15/2009 : 9:40:58 PM If the hotel computers are part of their business center then I highly doubt they would disable the USB ports as most business people would be carrying their data on thumbdrives. I think you should be able to use the hotel computers to transfer from the flip to the thumbdrive no problem.

Posted - 06/15/2009 : 1:19:19 PM So does that mean I can do that on the computahs at the hotel straight to da thumb drive? Somehow I still gotta use a computah . If dat works, it be da easiest way by far. But since I wan' be one boy scout, I need fo be prepared with an alternative plan. |

Posted - 06/15/2009 : 10:52:13 AM You can actually tranfer the videos without the software. From the Flip site:
If you are having trouble saving videos using the Flip Video Program, you can save your videos with the standard features of your computer. Access your camcorder through your computer and double-click the DCIM > 100VIDEO folder. All of your videos are stored in this folder. For each video you recorded, you will find a video file in .AVI format. To save videos, select the files that you would like to save and drag them to the folder or location where you would like to save them on your computer. NOTE: Manually saving videos from your DCIM folder to your computer may cause problems with the albums and videos that you can see in Your Library. We strongly recommend that you do not manually add or remove files or folders in your Flip Video Library location, as it may result in a loss of your video files. If you would like to organize your files and folders manually outside of the Flip Video Program, please copy them to a different location on your computer and manually organize them only in that location.

Posted - 06/15/2009 : 04:38:48 AM Nah, I am referring to the size of a regular keyboard since you were making fun of my typos. So a full sized keyboard makes no difference as to my accuracy in typing.
Re: white legs, when we go Waikiki I see plenty Japanese tourists, covered up from heat to toe, literally. Long sleeves, gloves, hats, long pants. The ladies must nevah like get toasted like one marshmallow on a stick. Or even to get one "healthy glow". |

Posted - 06/15/2009 : 02:07:39 AM Derek - the thumb drive thing is what I thought of first, but to get it to a storage device, the camera software would have to be on the computer I would be using. The hotel we are staying at does have a nice sized banks of computers for which one must pay a hefty amount (in my skinflint opinion) to use, but no can put any files onto the computers.
My daughter suggested a FedEx/Kinko's, so I am looking into that option.
Meanwhile I am going to write to Kawika since he has one Flip also and he is the one who recommended it for me since it is not very technically complicated and I could use it. Push the on button, push the button for record. Push the button when pau. Plug da buggah into da USB of da computah for download. Ta-dah.
Another idea might be something like photo bucket to hold them until I get home, but then would I be able to then retrieve them from photo bucket or similar storage sites? But then again, I still would have to be able for the computerto have the Flipshare software.
And I already get one nice size thumb drive.
I am also going to write to Flip customer support to see if you can save straight from the camera to a thumb drive without using a computer interface.
And Ed: Small keys, big fingers, ouch. Good thing I don't have to make a living by being a secretary like befo time.
I will leave the wearing of black socks to Unko Paul. Nah-nah. His problem is he wears white socks with black pants for dress up time. But so far we have neva had matching aloha shirts. Maybe we need one matching shirt for him and one mu`umu`u or holoku for me. Wouldn't that be cute. |
