As a slack key guitarist I've made plenty of use of electronic tuners over the years, but as any uke player knows, the little jumping flea is the king of needing to be tuned!!! So when I found myself with an extra Wittman MiniTuner I decided to try to install it in my new Pono tenor.

I did a blog post: http://www.homebrewedmusic.com/2010/02/11/installing-a-wittman-minituner-in-an-ukulele/

and an accompanying video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=anMXhZvg1MA

Unfortunately I had to loosen the strings to install the tuner, so now it will be another month before the strings settle in <grin> but it was worth it.

I've never heard of the Dillon/Wittman connection. When I googled around I found some references, but the one shadowy picture I found didn't look exactly like the Wittman I'm familiar with. Wittman-Spins makes electric basses and straps as well as tuners.

Isn't that the one that used to be the Dillon/Wittman tuner originally designed by PA luthier John Dillon? Great tuner. I didn't know these were still available.
