I picked up this DVD when on the Big Island, and finally got around to watching it yesterday. Wow!!! I'd planned on doing some handwork at the same time, but that very quickly got put away and I just stared :-) It's very well done and has a bit of a lot of other things besides paniolos (yes, Mark, Uncle Jimmy makes a couple of appearances)...slack key, history, traditions....

I'd strongly recommend betaking yourselves to Tapadero.com and checking it out :-)

Yeah, da Edgy Lee is good, and there is a musical CD that can be obtained to go with it. Both worth it.

So glad this topic has come up -- got my copy at Parker Ranch, too.

Musicians include Leabert Lindsey, Marcus Wong Yuen, Mike Beck, Braddah Smitty and "many other slack key artists". Great film...for the quality of its videography, its historical information, and da music!

Another on the same topic and equally wonderful is Edgy Lee's gorgeous "Paniolo O Hawai`i", which can be ordered here:

Thanks, Jean!

Susan contacted me about this project last year; she was looking for some licensing & music info. Things got so busy I'd plumb forgot about it.

They do a great job with the video documentaries; and I'm looking forward to seeing this latest installment. So who did the music?

It is a very good history. Actually some almost teary-eyed moments on my part. Very well done. Good talk-story and good music.
