Posted - 03/15/2012 : 5:45:38 PM Check out Steven Espaniola's new ongoing blog-series “Anatomy of a Mele”. Each month Steve will feature a different Hawaiian Artist/Producer pairing and go behind the scenes to closely examine one song off of one of their albums, giving the reader a tiny glimpse into the sometimes magical, sometimes arduous creative recording process.
The ultimate goal is to give fans and music lovers a little insight into what it's like to be in the studio. Hopefully it will inspire, educate and encourage the next generation of music makers!

Posted - 05/31/2012 : 2:11:22 PM Mahalo nui for the plug Andy & aunty Wanda! E kala mai...just noticed this ;) The series has been a huge success bringing some much needed attention to the artists as well as the producers. It gets re-blogged each month in SFGate. I have created a new domain to host archived installments: http://www.anatomyofamele.com/archives.html - The list of folks I have confirmed and lined up in the coming months reads like a hall of fame Nā Hōkū ballot ;).
PS...sorry I've been MIA in this group...have been consumed by other projects and social media platforms, but I do plan to pop in more frequently. My own follow up CD is one of those projects that has had my hands full for the past 3 years...getting extremely close to finishing now. So proud of this one! |
