Posted - 06/10/2012 : 07:08:13 AM Matthew,
I have that tape and booklet, I don't know - it doesn't sound the same to me. I will try and upload my Grandfather playing later this week.
Thank you, Frank |

Posted - 06/09/2012 : 2:35:21 PM Frank, I've got that same record and I just listened to "Daniel's Mele No. 1" and it sounds a lot like "Ku'u Ipo Onaona" (My Lovely Sweetheart) by Maddy Lam. There is tab and instruction for this song in the DVD/ tab booklet entitled "The Hawaiian Slack Key Guitar of Ledward Kaapana". To make sure I'm right, do a search for that song and Led Kaapana on youtube and see if it sounds the same. (The song is also on the CD called "Led Live- Solo".) |

Posted - 06/09/2012 : 09:14:48 AM I have contaced Mike McClellan who sells this slack key album - Field Recordings of Hawaiian Slack Key. It's called Daniel's Mele No. 1 (1 Sept 75-2') on the album. I would love to get tabs. I contacted Mike, but he is busy with his teenage children (understandable). I also have a tape (over)forty years old where I recorded my Grandfather playing it. If I can figure out how to upload it here I will.

Posted - 06/09/2012 : 08:25:25 AM Also, Wanda put a lot of research into finding videos for the He Mele Aloha songbook where you will find links to a large library of Hawai'i music:

Posted - 06/09/2012 : 08:20:36 AM Are there any lyrics, Feoli? You might start here otherwise:

...and listen to the audio clips. The ones that do not have audio clips you can search for video on YouTube. You can also Google video and audio. There's a pretty good chance it will be there. Once you find the song name, it will will give Taropatchers(?) a door to answering your question. Ric |

Posted - 06/09/2012 : 08:00:26 AM I think you need to give a lot more information about the song if you expect any response- as written, you could be referring to just about any song. |
