The preliminary ballots are out. For the category "Slack Key Album of the Year", usually the top five vote-getters go on to appear on the final ballot, but this year there are only three albums on the preliminary ballot. No disrespect to the nominees, but were there really so few slack key albums produced this year? |

One of my responsibilities as a HARA board member, is to sit on various committees -- one of them being, the Selection Committee. We oversee the submissions, ensuring they are placed in their appropriate categories for the preliminary ballot.
The short answer to your question, is "yes". To be included in the slack key category, the album must meet FEATURE slack key guitar, whether with or without vocals. This year, only 3 releases met that criteria. |
