Posted - 08/03/2013 : 04:59:37 AM I'm doing a slack key workshop at the Bay Area Aloha Festival today and tomorrow. This year I'll be teaching "Paliokamoa" in drop C tuning. To supplement my workshop I shot a tutorial video and created tablature of the arrangement as played in the video. You can find both here: http://www.kaleponi.com/2013/08/03/paliokamoa-pali-o-ka-moa-tutorial/

That article really added to my enjoyment of the song, and those are the lyrics and translation I use when I sing it. I linked to it in my Kaleponi.com post.
The other essay I particularly enjoyed is http://apps.ksbe.edu/kaiwakiloumoku/kaleinamanu/mele-hou/hanohano_wailea

Posted - 08/07/2013 : 06:02:02 AM Thanks, folks. I hope you enjoy learning about and playing the song. I especially recommend listening to Gary Haleamau's version (where it's spelled "Paliakamoa") with the wonderful combination of western swing fiddles and Tahitian-ish `ukulele. You can hear a brief sample on mele.com: http://www.mele.com/hawaiianMP3s/65_10.mp3
