Some of our buddies got up real early and set up some tents on the east end of Kailua Beach Park in a shady grove of ironwood trees. It was an idyllic location and a special day. I did a little writeup at my website http://www.kaleponi.com/2014/06/21/slack-key-at-the-beach/ with a link to the video included there.
I've been quite taken with the LR Baggs Lyric pickup as a recording tool. I have one installed in the Epiphone Masterbilt EF-500RCCE I keep in Hawai`i, it's actually one of three pickups in that guitar but that's another story.
The beach is a dreadful place to try to capture audio with the wind, the sound of the surf, and the excited voices of peope enjoying the day so I was pleased to find that the Baggs Lyric into the Zoom H6 recorder makes it easy to capture a sweet and natural guitar sound while eliminating noise issues.
The song is one that Ledward just teased out of his guitar, I'm hoping we'll be playing it on our upcoming northern California tour.

Kailua Beach is pretty amazing. Our heroic advance party got there at 7 am to stake out our spot, mahalo!
There were crews carrying gorgeous koa canoes from their trucks to their staging location for a big day of paddling, and the next day they raced those canoes across the bay from morning till evening.

Terry, I'm sorry I missed this post earlier. I'm being lazy and staying home for Ledward's SoCal swing. He's putting on a spectacular show up here so I know you'll have a strong finale. Sorry to hear the operation is closing down, we certainly enjoyed our chance to perform there.

Hope you are opening for Led in San Diego. Yell if you need anything here (food, lodging, transportation). This will be the last concert at AMSDConcerts after about 10 years and 500+ shows. |
