The hinge bar concept is easy to understand, yet a little harder to execute, especially on the bass strings. Then there is for example, measure 41 in Keola's, Na Hula La'au.
The tuning is C Wahine, using an F chord at the 5th, with the third string open for G. The only way I can figure out how to play this measure is to hold the bar for two beats, open for one note and then close again.
More generally speaking, are there exercises to strengthen the forefinger to bar, other than jus' press, a lot? Mahalo.

Yes. The fretted fourth is a G, but of course the open third is G too, and that's the crux. Thanks.

Only addressing playing the G note... In C wahine isn't the 4th string 5th fret a G?
That's just from visualizing it since I don't have it in front of me right now. |
