On Sept. 26, Led, George Kahumoku Jr, and Uncle RIchard Ho'opi'i performed an informal luau event at the Blue Loon in Fairbanks., Ak., then a formal event on Saturday. I attended both, of course, but at the informal event I went armed with my prototype Guitulele #1. I knew Led plays both Luke and guitar,so It thought he might like tottery a hybrid. I showed it to him in tear before the performance and he played three melodies on it immediately. I suggested he could use it during the performance and eh took me up on it.
This video is the result. My smile was shoulder wide and it was 3 days before might touched the ground. Really great other whammy creation could sound like in the hands of a master.
Mahalo nui loa, Led.

Hi Karl,

Finally got a chance to see the vid. Nice instrument

Yes, Led does a good job working it out a little!

How many sound holes are there?
I see only one smallish one on high side of the upper bout, and two very small "spots" other places)

What pickups did you install??
(they sound pretty good, not like most under-saddle piezos)

Hard to tell from the vid but is it a Six String?
If so then Guitarlele or Guitulele would be a good name.

Thanks, my friends. It was a thrill to have him play it on stage. I wonder if he would like one of his own......

Nice! Good tone, good tune!

Very cool Karl. You make quite nice instruments. Hopefully this one will "remember" some of what led taught it.

I'm envious. Here in Boise we are just enough off the beaten path that we almost never have any slack key players come through. They tour up and down the West Coast, and in Denver or Salt Lake, but never seem to come through here. It's an official drought!
