Hey all,

Last month, the Masters of Hawaiian Music featuring George Kahumoku, Jr, Led Kaapana, and Uncle Richard Ho'opi'i performed in New York. Claudia opened the show with Led. Check out this video. Great job, Claudia!

Mahalo Andy for posting this video! Now I have proof that it really happened and it wasn't just a dream. Playing with Led was such a blast. We had met before, but had never played together until sound check in New Jersey - George Kahumoku grabbed my iPhone and took some video of us while we were ironing out some things on "Nani." Then there were 2 Aloha Music Campers in the audience that were just as surprised to see me onstage as I was to see them! The next day, we played SubCulture in New York. What a great space - the sound engineer was top-notch! After an early sound check, Led was eyeing my Grimes guitar and I handed it to him. He proceeded to play, just for himself, just for fun, for nearly an hour - stopping periodically only to look at me and give me his biggest grin and laugh. It was heaven for me to listen! I texted Steve Grimes in Maui with a photo of Led having fun with my guitar and Steve texted back "Wow, how cool is that?" So Led and I played "Makee 'Ailana" and my dear hula sister Nersa captured it on video. What a sweet and wonderful guy Led is - and watching him play is absolutely riveting. Thank you George and Led for letting me join in on the fun! Thank you Duke, my slack key brother, for your unwavering support (we talked about you!).

BTW there's also another video at this session where Claudia does Auntie Alice Namakelua's "Nani" with Led. I dunno where it is but maybe Andy knows.

Saw this video on FB as soon as it was uploaded. Chatted with Claudia online right afterwards. She was absolutely stoked & rightfully so. Led is one of the most encouraging big name ki ho'alu artists ever. I'm glad that Claudia had that opportunity.......And she represented us 'Patchers well didn't she? Cheeeeee pono.

Nice Job Claudia!

I think I hear a little of Owanna's vocal styling in your singing.

Always a very sweet song...
