Made our first stop at the Kailua Big City Diner for this trip, luckily it was Thursday so we got to enjoy Uncle Harry Koizimi's slack key and vocals. Harry studied with Ray Kane and really brings that Nanakuli feel to his slack key. Started off with a lovely rendition of Ray's "Five Song Medley" and got around to "La Paloma" a bit later in the set. Lots of other slack key classics, hula tunes, and a bit of mainland pop here and there. Great accompaniment to the kimchee fried min!

Harry used to have a monthly public television show which was a slack key tutorial 15-20 years ago. I picked up and figure out some good kiho'alu mana'o from watching those shows. Harry currently has a YouTube channel that has many slack key tutorials. Worth checking out people
