I'm not sure how I missed this, but there's an ongoing series of shows on Lewers street in Waikiki, you can see many of them at http://www.channel808.tv/

Fortunately I finally got the word and brought my little camera along to the show this past Sunday featuring Mike Kaawa, Analu `Aina, and Mike's sister and former Miss Hawai`i, Aurora. The only place I could find the position my camera was up on the balcony so the sound is dreadful, but hopefully the music and dance make it worth the viewing time: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=voAmv4lCBVs

Bad sound?...so many variables.
Moniters, Sound, and especially EQ in the moniters, versus EQ in the house....often totally different.
People and noise. Acoustics?

I'd get off stage and be saying, Oh we sounded terrible...and my wife would say, "Are you kidding, It sounded GREAT out front!"
Also Acoustics, crowd noise (especially in a club, where the first sets with a crowd sucked, but the last one AFTER they left sounded great...and it was because everyone, (band and audience) could hear and felt inspired after the Massive talking subsided.
Crazy. But when it's right, it makes it all worthwhile.

I played there with Ke Kani Nahe once. They refer to that venue as "Beachwalk" It surprises me that you didn't care for the audio there. That one time we played there we were amazed at the sound quality. On second thought maybe it was just the stage monitors that sounded awesome because somebody's wife videotaped us & the audio sucked Hahaha
