Posted - 02/15/2020 : 11:18:10 AM I use a John Pearse short thumb pick and .024" brass finger picks on my lap steels. I switch to steel picks for pedal steel. I finger pick my guitar bare fingered. |

Posted - 02/14/2020 : 06:17:33 AM After 40 years of washing windows, I've gotten used to really short fingernails. I play bare fingered at home and recordings, but with others, I use light gauge 18, brass finger picks and a Goldengate thumb pick. Play with what is comfortable. Play clean. Don't hurt yourself. |

If you prefer to use fingerpicks on the back of your fingernails, perhaps consider the Fred Kelly Freedom Picks.
I've got some and I find them better than the ones that you wear like the ones in the photo you included (which is the way Uncle Led wears his).
I prefer playing with my natural nails though. I find I have a better sense of where my fingers are that way. |

Posted - 02/12/2020 : 6:09:17 PM Good one, Sebastian. I believe that suggested usage of finger picks is meant for standard tuning & not for nahenahe kiho'alu
Or maybe that's how you use finger picks if you want to combine fingerstyle & steel guitar. How you figgah, slpry1? |
