Since Led's at the house I got the cameras and my new Zoom F6 32 bit recorder out to catch a video. The song that came out a keeper is an old standard in praise of Queen Lili`uokalani.

When I got to titling the video I hit a quandary: what's the name of this song? Led says in the video: "E Lili`u E" and when I check my music collection that's the title used by Cyril and Led and Leonard Kwan and Ozzie Kotani. But when I check Huapala it's "Lili`u E." So I pulled down my copy of "Hawaiian Music and Musicians" where the title is also listed as "Lili`u E." Further searches found citations in support of the latter title: http://www.hulapreservation.org/chant.asp?ID=10 and https://halaumohalailima.com/HMI/Liliu_E.html among others.

Whatever the title, it's a fun song to play and even though it has been recorded many times I'm thinking one more won't hurt (grin):

Now that I think about it, I actually shot a version when we were on O`ahu last year. This one is solo so it's lacking that Ledward magic, but it was shot in the Lili`uokalani Botanical Garden in Honolulu:

I looked a little further and found that I have two more clips of "Lili`u E" - one from my old Aloha Friday in Pleasant Hill series and one with Led playing the '49 Martin tiple. And of course YouTube has a bunch more. I imagine many slackists find themselves learning and playing the song, it's a classic example of the joys of two chords.

As Slipry1 says, "I don't know the name, Uncle played it". One of the 1st ones I learned or absorbed while jamming. Both good versions!
