These days I don't remember how we connected, but we started jamming, working our through Shaun Gavagan's enormous collection of lyrics and chords. He was a Maui boy who sang and played a Kamaka 6 string uke. Ikaika Lancaster was from Kohala way and a hula family, he played `ukulele and sang some backups. I learned a ton trying to absorb all these songs and figure out a way to play them in slack key. We had other members come and go, played gigs here and there, I built a little YouTube channel https://www.youtube.com/ @ KawiliNaKaleponi

I learned "Maui Boy" with those guys and it makes me think of Shaun every time I play it.

Very tasty tune, Fran. During my down time this holiday weekend, I will take a stab at learning it based on your video. I'm always up for new tunes in Taropatch.
