Vocalist, instrumentalist, composer, band leader, John K. Almeida left quite a mark on Hawaiian music. "Green Rose Hula" caught my ear the first time I heard it, I've been playing it a lot of years now. When I found a couple of other Almeida songs about roses I set out to create a medley, and after a year of noodling and tweaking I came up with this:

Three different arrangements of "Green Rose" wrapped around "Ku`u Ipo Pua Rose" and "Roselani Blossoms." To be complete I should have included "Lei Lokelani O Ka Punahou" but that would have probably added a year to the project (grin). It's another cool tune, though, with a mandolin playing the leads and fills in place of the steel guitar.
Speaking of mandolin, Almeida's "Mandolin Medley" puts "Ku`u Ipo Pua Rose" next to "Green Rose Hula' and I never noticed the connection until now.
