From today's Honolulu Advertiser:

The Hawaiian Music Hall of Fame announced its 2009 inductees — Maiki Aiu Lake, Thomas Sylvester Kalama, Kui Lee, Dennis Kamakahi, and members of Hui Ohana: Ledward Kaapana, Nedward Kaapana and the late Dennis Pavao — yesterday at its annual meeting. Honorees will be inducted in a formal ceremony in May as part of its annual Lei of Stars concert.

We're enjoying some time on O`ahu so naturally we're visiting the guys at Honey's then dashing off to enjoy Led at Kona Brewing Company.

When we got there Led and his sister Lei were filling the room with their sweet family sound. Then Led called up the Abrigo Ohana and of course they brought down the house.

After a short break, Uncle Dennis Kamakahi joined Led for an unforgettable set. Song after song from the great Kamakahi collection, with old favorite traditional tunes sprinkled in.

As if that weren't enough, Mike Kaawa showed up after his Honey's gig and helped put the exclamation point on the show. He joined Led and Dennis for some tunes from the "Force of Nature" CD along with some more Kamakahi favorites. I'm still grinning and tapping my foot.
