It's a longshot, but can anyone recommend a good instructor in the Santa Clarita Valley, CA?

Thank you, Nancy! Wow, I didn't think that I had a chance. I can't believe that someone in Valencia actually teaches. Do you have any contact information on Dan Hofstedt? Does Jim "Kimo" West also live in Santa Clarita?

Not a long shot at all!! You have several excellent Ki ho'alu locals including Jim "Kimo" West. Send him an e-mail at jim @ jimkimowest. com T-Dan Hofstedt may also teach and lives in Valencia.
Together they are doing a Christmas show on Sunday the 20th at the Coffee Gallery in Altadena.
Malama Pono!

and when you get started, and are interested in playing and getting help from the rest of the group, watch for the kani ka pila in Manhattan Beach. Rather than a standard jam session, we strive, and sometimes struggle, helping each other learn. And we like to eat and talk story. Though we really enjoy the other instruments that join us, we really are a group of "slackers", kind of the northern arm of SCSKS (southern California slack key society).
