Posted - 12/23/2009 : 08:50:41 AM Just a note: don't go to the original sheet music - Iz's chords are uniquely (qnd wonderfully) his own. The original chords are quite different. Check out Yip Harbug's verse for the song, though. It's quite nice and very meaningful. Someone should do Iz's version with the verse. |

Posted - 12/23/2009 : 08:49:17 AM So if you were going to play this in slack key, what tuning would you reccomend? Since there is a low g according to Mr. Tinsley, would it be in taro patch g? Update #1: depolyment date moved to Jan.1, and my guitar has to stay because of a 4 duffel bag limit, I guess my uke is going to Iraq too! |

Posted - 12/22/2009 : 11:35:37 AM You guys really came through for me on this one. Thanks everybody! I am not a Uke player but I think I can handle strumming.
FYI: This will be one of four songs I am going to play with my very talented 15 yr old Granddaughter (vocal/bass/flute). We will be playing at an elderly med rehab where I usually play solo Slack. This is going to be so much fun.

Posted - 12/21/2009 : 6:42:22 PM C, Em, Am, F, G. IZ CHANGED HIS STRINGS AROUND SO THE C IS THE BOTTOM AND USED AS THE BASS IN THE SONG, IF I AM NOT MISTAKEN. YOU CAN USE THE NORMAL TUNING ARRANGEMENT AND USE THE C AS THE BASS. THE PROBLEM IS THAT THE STRUMMING PATTERN THAT IZ USES CAN'T BE DUPLICATED AS EASILY IN THIS ARRANGEMENT. MELE KALIKIMAKA. |

Try http://www.tropicalstormhawaii.com/ All of the material submitted is by everyday people like us and sometimes it's not 100% accurate but you'll probably find a good version of Israel's "Somewhere Over The Rainbow" there.....Oh yeah Merry Christmas & a Happy New Year to you & yours my friend.
