I would believe Derek's story. After all, Dukie told us himself about the time the bank got robbed and Duke saw the robber with a mask over his face and thought of Michael Jackson the germophobe instead of thinking "bank robber". My sweet Dukie. Got love him!!!!! Goes to show how good you might be as a recording engineer, too, Derek, in addition to just making the music.

I was listening to Hui `Ohana in the car on the way back from W. Va. this weekend and was listening to "E Mama E". Dennis Pavao, wowie, he can hold them high notes, too. http://www.rhapsody.com/hui-ohana/young-hawaii-plays-old-hawaii

We had just finished band practice and we hopped into Derek's SUV.He plugs his IPOD into his car stereo. After a couple of songs, "Mapuna Ka Hala O'Kailua" comes up on the car stereo.I'm singing along and I realize it's not Moe Keale's version. I ask Derek " Eh brah who's this?" He looks at me confused like "Are you serious?" Just then I recognize Shawn's guitar playing in the song!!! Hahahaha it was Ke Kani Nahe playing "Mapuna Ka Hal O'Kailua" and I didn't even recognize my own voice singing the lead

Dukie honey - your Mapuna Ka Hala `O Kailua with the rest of Ke Kani Nahe is one of the bestest versions I have EVER EVER EVER heard of that mele. You sang it with every bit of your heart, I think. It was chicken skin.

In case you guys have not seen/heard that, here it is:

Mines is "Mapuna Ka Hala O'Kailua" composed by Kihei DeSilva for Mapuana and recorded by Moe Keale.

One of my favorites that I think might fill the bill is "Hanohano Wailea" written by Uncle Moe Keale and Kihei de Silva, performed by Na Palapalai. And hoh, boy-oh-boy, if you can see Auntie Mapuana de Silva dance this song....going knock your socks off.
