I got the DVD by Eddie Kamae about the history of Ki Ho'Alu for my birthday this week and wow is it great! The Ki Ho'alu played on this DVD is awesome. I have watched it three times now and it choked me up more each time I watched it. If anyone want to hear great authentic Ki Ho'Alu and have a better understanding of the people that love it and live it, then I couldn't reccomend anything more than I do this DVD.

The only criticism I have is that the slack key playing "snippets" are too short. We never hear more than a few bars of some very fine players. And when these are rare shots of a bygone era -- I think of lost opportunities. I like to think that Eddie had too much valuable material and had very difficult choices to make.

I agree. Uncle Eddie captured the aloha.

It is a very good video. I cherish every one of Uncle Eddie's films. So far, they have all been great.
