Posted - 08/09/2011 : 06:21:01 AM I've been fooling with guitar cams, video cameras fastened to the guitar, for a few years now, but I never came up with a clip that did what I wanted. Had a little time on my hands last week and started trying things, came up with this:

I got everything rolling and shot a clip of "Moani Ke `Ala" in closeup:

Posted - 08/11/2011 : 4:43:43 PM Fran- Maybe a split screen between peghead cam and close up of right hand? I think that would be really valuable! Jon |

Posted - 08/11/2011 : 06:16:46 AM Thanks, everyone, for the kind comments.
Jon, one of the goals with these experiments is to do a few instructional videos. I made a split screen tutorial out of one of my performance videos, "E Nihi Ka Hele," last year. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pcAlT0dNpgk and I put together a very simplified tab of the tune as well: http://www.kaleponi.com/music/enihi.htm
Bob, I agree about the angles for sure. I should have set things up for a reshoot but I got lazy. As far as monetizing, I'd much rather keep the more obtrusive commercialization away from my stuff. I'm really in it to spread the love for Hawaiian music.
Andy, I'm starting to find it downright embarrassing that I have mumbledy-mumble thousands of dollars "invested" in recording gear but when I get ready to record something I grab the Zoom H2.

Posted - 08/10/2011 : 10:02:01 AM The angles could be tweaked a little but the idea is really creative. If the YouTube crowd sees it, it may get away from you. May I suggest that you consider profiting on it in some way. |
