Posted - 06/01/2012 : 07:18:30 AM Just a reminder that the marvelous guitar trio from Hawai`i, KOHALA, is in the Seattle area this weekend. These guys are great guitarists - skilled on their own, they make up a "supergroup" when they are together. Though from Hawai`i, the music isn't typical "Hawaiian" - it's great acoustic guitar work, with jazz, folk & pop influences throughout. They have a couple more shows (with a hula performance to open) for which tickets are still available.
One is Friday 6/1 (tonight) at Matthews Winery in Woodinville at 6:30 pm (partial proceeds to benefit "Queen: It's a New Day," an organization assisting women in circumstances of abuse and neglect); info: http://www.alohaislandtreasures.net/cms/node/53
The next one is Saturday 6/2 at the Phinney Neighborhood Center's Community Hall at 7 pm; info: http://www.alohaislandtreasures.net/cms/node/56
(The two house concerts in Bellevue on Sunday are sold out, so you will want to catch these guys at one of the other two shows.)
If you'd like to hear more of KOHALA's music, they will be playing live on the Hawai`i Radio Connection show during the 1:00 pm hour this Saturday, on KBCS-FM 91.3 (online at http://kbcs.fm). On the web, you can find more of their music at: http://www.myspace.com/kohalatrio http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4PjYp0wpAzM http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=-IzuZ5nUe7s http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t7pkdjCt5M0
Looking forward to seeing you there! = Gregg = |
