Spirit Hawaii, a two-day cultural event July 14 and 15, 2012 in Lafayette, California, celebrates Hawaii past and present through ‘Mo’olelo’, the art of story-telling. Through Hula (dance), ‘oli (chant), mele (song), and hana no‘eau (arts and crafts), native Hawaiians thrived for generations, passing on traditions, history and beliefs, and remembering and honoring their ancestors, Gods and their connection to the ‘aina (land) and the moana (ocean).

Keoki Kahumoku, Sonny Lim, Kumu Pua Case, Hawane Rios, Kumu Kau’i Peralto, Kahu Keli’i Lindo and Wendeanne Ke’ala Stitt round out the panel and will be sharing their knowledge and talents in the arts of ‘ukulele, slack key guitar, music, hula, chant, voyaging history, Hawaiian language, protocol, Hawaiian food, kapa demonstrations, and more. Details: www.HawaiiMusicLive.com

Spirit Hawaii will be held July 14 and 15, 2012 from 11:30 am – 5:30 pm at the Lafayette Community center in Lafayette, California. Group rates of 5 or more are available.

A concert and Lu’au dinner celebration on July 15th will also be open to the general public. For more information, or to purchase tickets, visit www.HawaiiMusicLive.com or call 415-452-8720.

It will be a magical weekend! Hope to see you there!
