The 2016 George Kahumoku Jr. Slack Key Guitar and 'Ukulele Workshop marks its 19th year! This yearʻs workshop will feature some of Hawaiʻiʻs foremost musicians, hula and craft instructors. The dates are June 19-26, and the host hotel again this year is the Napili Kai Beach Resort in beautiful Napili, Maui. The instructor staff for 2016:

George Kahumoku Jr. – guitar, songs
Ledward Kaapana – guitar, ukulele
Jeff Peterson – guitar, ukulele
Kevin Brown – guitar, songs
Ozzie Kotani – guitar
Herb Ohta, Jr. – ukulele
David Kamakahi – ukulele
Paul Togioka – guitar, ukulele
Sterling Seaton – guitar
John Trino – guitar, Slack Cafe
Joel Katz – Hawaiian steel guitar, ukulele
Jason Jerome – ukulele
Richard Ho’opi’i – ukulele, falsetto
Wainani Kealoha – hula, lei making
Helen Bigelow – lauhala weaving
Wendeanne Ke’aka Stitt – Kapa cloth design and making

Students at varying levels of experience can choose from several levels of classes, from beginning to advanced Hawaiian slack key guitar and ‘ukulele.

The workshop also provides students and spouses or partners with a variety of cultural activities and classes, such as lei and kapa cloth making, hula, Hawaiian songs and singing, song writing, song history, and lap steel guitar.
