Anybody out there want to discuss da kine?

This wahine (R.I.P.) was really talented. She could even play (lap)
steel guitar!(on her recordings as well).

Googling her name doesn't produce much. Somebody needs to put up a "Fair Use" kine download or something of her music. (Those old
Waikiki Records are not available on any CD--correct me if I'm wrong).

M Fo was on Harry Owens' Hawaiian TV show. Where are those old films?

I have 6 songs by Mikilani Fo in my collection, all from Waikiki Records LP and 45's. She is one of my favorite singers to listen to. She had a voice that would be on a par with just about any of the great singers of the past. Linda Dela Cruz, Leina'ala Haili, Lena Machado, etc. She is also listed in Lorene Ruymar's book "The Hawaiian Steel Guitar" as one of the finest wahine steel guitar players. She died on stage in Reno, Nevada at the age of 35. A candle that burned very brightly but only for a short time.

Buddy Fo told me that she was responsible for getting him started in the music world. He was very much in awe of her. I have never actually heard any of her work. I wonder if Buddy's widow has any of the old records....I will have to ask her.
Aloha,
