This book is the beginner's bible to those who want to learn how to play slack key.  Originally released with a cassette tape, the most recent edition includes a CD.  I cannot give enough praise to this book.  This is 'the' book that got me off the ground, and I am sure that I am in the company of many.

One reason this book is so widely used is its progression of songs ranging from easiest to intermediate.  Each new song develops skills and builds upon those learned in previous chapters.  Moreover, Ozzie begins each chapter highlighting the new concepts measure by measure.  That way, by the time you get to the song, you are half was there already.  Using this method helps new students progress through songs more easily and in less time.  The biggest obstacle to a beginning student is getting stuck in tablature that is too advanced.  Beginner's are less like to "hit a brick wall" with this book.  All songs are written in tablature only (no standard musical notation).
