This video presents a visual and musical look at Hawai`i's Legendary Gabby Pahinui, with
family and friends. Also, Gabby's sons, Martin, Cyril and Bla are filmed making
their album, "The Pahinui Bros."
In 1979, Gabby Pahinui assembled a group of family
and friends for a musical day at his home in Waimanalo. Joining Gabby are his sons,
Bla, Martin, Cyril and Phil, and friends, LeLand "Atta" Isaacs, Joe Gang, Peter
Moon, and Palani Vaughan. This day of music and fun was captured on film for your
enjoyment. Visit Gabby for one of his famous "jams" at home in Waimanalo.
Twelve years later, "The Pahinui Bros.",
Bla, Martin and Cyril recorded their first album together in 1991, on the island of Maui.
These sessions were filmed to give you a behind-the-scenes look at the making of
this classic record. Joining the brothers are friends and fellow musicians, Ry
Cooder, David Lindley and Jim Keltner.
Dedicated to the memory of Gabby Pahinui.
